Well the day didn't get off to the best of starts. Dad was planning to pick us up soon after 9 but luckily he was up earlier and heard contractors out on the street... Went to investigate and they were about to dig a trench outside his driveway which would effectively strand him. He persuaded them to stop digging so he could get the car out to come get us. He arrived earlier than planned but all good. Then as I was carrying my suitcase down the front steps to the car (with an orange juice bottle for the rubbish bin in my other hand) I managed to miss my footing and fall. All seemed ok apart from a slightly sore foot. Driving to the airport I was in denial that I was hurt but the lump on my foot had other ideas and kept swelling and throbbing. Arrived at the airport and luckily parked in handicapped park near the terminal (thanks mum!)... But limped pretty badly . Checked in very early and was pleased bags were going all the way to Hong Kong. Airport was very quiet so asked the lovely Air NZ lady next to me if there was a first aid kit at the airport... Next thing I was whisked into a wheelchair and they called for help. A chubby airport man came up to me and said into his walker talkie that the
patient was located. Next minute I was joined by 3 very nice firemen who iced my foot and then strapped and bandaged it up. Very impressed with the service! They had to record all my details and asked dob and then how old was I? Very happy to still be able to say 49!Campbell then wheeled me to mojo's for a much needed coffee. Dad wheeled mum along next to me... What a pair. Campbell was less than thrilled wheeling me through the airport to the gate... But he did a great job. Flight to Auckland was my 1st ever on an A320 - nice! And I did my celebrity spotting with Chris from ShortlandSt sitting 2 rows in front. Took a sneaky stalker photo of him Cam was not keen for me to ask for a selfie with him. Long boring day at the airport now as can't take the planned walk to the local shops.
